June Lake, CA – August 16, 2023 – At their February board meeting, the June Lake Loop performing Arts Association’s Board of Directors (JLLOOPPAA) voted unanimously to establish an ongoing youth arts grant program. The grants would support and fund extracurricular creative pursuits and artistic endeavors of local students not addressed or provided for by schools or other community organizations.
“We are extremely excited to announce these grants that will target the needs of students in Mono County as well as help us reach our organizational mission goals,” stated Executive Director Janet Hunt. “Having successfully reorganized our board and staff, we are now ready to execute our mission and begin allocating funds collected through our successful fundraising event, June Lake Jam Fest.”
According to Board President Scott Diehl, these initial grants have been established to honor and recognize the work and contributions of volunteer members of JLLOOPPAA’s leadership team, for which the grants will be named.
“The Board is pleased to name these grants after – and to honor – team members Tanya Ellis, Joanie Hanson and Joia Bear for our music, visual arts, and theater arts/dance grants respectively,” said Diehl. “Each has worked tirelessly on behalf of our mission and will be closely involved in vetting the recipients of these special grants.”
Hunt stated: “Each grant is renewable up to twice per year and can fund any equipment or service that assists each recipient in their artistic endeavor up to $500. Music lessons, accessories, sheet music, ballet shoes. Anything that allows the student to achieve their goals.”
JLLOOPPAA provides cultural enrichment by supporting the creative and performing arts in Mono County. They do so by sponsoring and funding a range of educational, exhibitive and performing arts opportunities and events, supporting emerging local talent, enriching the creative economy, and enliven the artistic values of the community.
This includes the annual Theater Festival, the June Lake Jam Fest, school assemblies, kids’ summer camps and adult workshops.
Details of the grant program are posted on JuneLakeArts.org, including the official application.
